Accurate Color Matching

Edison Lithograph & Printing Corporation takes pride in being a G7, GMI and BMTRADA certified company.

G7 Color Management

Although Edison Litho has built up a solid reputation as a large-format printer with an expertise in printing on a variety of substrates, Edison has also become known for its quality control with regard to color management. This is due, in part, to its certification as a Gracol 7 and G7 Master Printer.

Gracol 7 is an industry standard for color separation that allows different printers to have consistency in colors. It set into place standards and controls that assure a closer visual match between the creative vision and the finished product on press. As Gracol experts, Edison Litho can easily match colors from other printers or suppliers who are also Gracol 7 certified.

The Gracol 7 certification program requires printers to undergo an audit process of press color measurement equipment, process
control procedures and quality of printing in order to receive certification. Every two years, Edison must apply certain curves and densities which are then tested to ensure that they meet the Gracol 7 standards. Edison constantly fingerprints the presses to make sure the standards are consistent with Gracol 7 and G7.

Roger Morell, Edison’s Director of Operations explains. “By printing to a recognized standard, Edison ensures that all the printed pieces look the same, with the same consistency of color. This helps print buyers, as well as print suppliers. With Gracol certification, you can rest assured that the color you see is the color you’ll get. Edison’s customers see the highest level of consistency in color as well as accuracy for each and every one of their print jobs.” As a certified Gracol 7 Master Printer, Edison Litho maintains the highest level of standards and consistency — guaranteeing it’s always a perfect match.

GMI CERTIFICATION

As a G7 certified company, Edison Litho has long understood the benefits of printing to a recognized standard in order to ensure that printed pieces look the same, with the same consistency of color. This helps print buyers, as well as print suppliers.

Edison Lithograph & Printing Corporation has recently been evaluated by Graphic Measures International (GMI) and has achieved Full Certification status.

GMI’s expertise is focused on delivering print consistency through evaluating the processes that effectively manage production and analyzing press sheets for their adherence to specific color benchmarks.

BMTRADA: ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFICATION

This is the highest international standards benchmark for quality-management in the world.

ISO 9001:2008 Certification means a business’s operations are approved by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, the most trusted authority on international standards, as being in compliance with their defined guidelines. The company must successfully implement a set of ISO 9001:2008 requirements to establish an effective organizational quality-management system.

A non-governmental system of 161 member countries, ISO is recognized worldwide as the definitive international standards developer. Coordinated in Geneva’s Central Secretariat since 1947, it has created more than 16,500 standards, across a wide range of industries.

Edison has made the grade – and is fully dedicated to these high standards. Top management has wholeheartedly adopted the system’s quality-management principles which include a process-based approach, strong focus on customer satisfaction and an emphasis on continual improvement. The ISO 9001:2008 vision starts with Edison Litho’s owners, for whom quality is paramount, and involves every member of the team. Each of our employees takes full responsibility for whatever Edison produces; they are involved in the development of systems; and they are encouraged to make suggestions for improvement.

Procedures and processes are conveyed plant-wide with clear guidelines for handling any issue which may arise. Employees have well defined responsibilities so nothing falls through the cracks. Customer requirements are transmitted to every department in a clear timely manner, and processes are audited regularly to insure compliance.

In manufacturing, irregularities inevitably can occur. The value of ISO 9001:2008 adherence is that every quality issue allows Edison to learn, grow and improve. Documentation is the key: our custom management information system gives us access to data on all steps of production so improvements can be planned and implemented based on documentation and analysis. Studying the data prompts us to review our processes and make changes where necessary. The standards set out clear instructions for audits and process reviews to facilitate this continuous improvement.

The clear advantages of 9001:2008 Certification for Edison are increased efficiency, productivity and consistency which ultimately benefit our customers. Edison Litho is proud of this accomplishment.
